We have been internationally active since 2016 and are committed to sharing our know-how
Dr. Robert Gaertner M.P.H. war langjähriger Geschäftsführer und Gesellschafter der EPOS Health Management und hatte diese zum europäischen Marktführer im internationalen Entwicklungsconsulting aufgebaut, bevor er 2013 das Palliativteam Hochtaunus mit Frau Dr. Elisabeth Lohmann gründete und schließlich Anfang 2014 EPOS Health Management verließ. Sein Know-how und sein Netzwerk, bestehend aus vielen erfahrenen Experten in der internationalen Zusammenarbeit rund um die Welt, dient nun der schrittweisen Weiterentwicklung der internationalen Tätigkeiten der Löwenzahn Hochtaunus gGmbH.
SUPPORT TO THE PUTEVI MIRA CITIZENS' ASSOCIATION
Unsere internationalen Aktivitäten wurden im Jahr 2016 durch Dr. Elisabeth Lohmann (Mitgründerin des Palliativteam Hochtaunus) und Martin Lemperle (Palliative Care Fachkraft) initiiert. Sie hatten in Bosnien-Herzegowina den Bürgerverein „Putevi Mira“ (= Friedenswege) in der Stadt Kozarska Dubica besucht. Neben dem fachlichen Austausch und vielen freundschaftlichen Begegnungen wurde als messbares Ergebnis eine monatliche finanzielle Unterstützung vereinbart. Seither beteiligen wir uns an der Finanzierung der Projekte „Würdiges Leben im Alter“ und der „Begegnungsstätte für ältere Menschen“.
In the "Dignified life in old age" project, nurses make home visits to elderly people who are living alone. They check blood pressure and blood sugar, monitor current medications, help with personal hygiene and go shopping. In the "Meeting place for the elderly" project, a meeting locale in the city center provides a gathering place for the elderly to meet over a coffee, read the daily newspaper or play board games.
The municipality also supports the project and provides the locale cost-free.
GRADUAL EXPANSION OF INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES
With the establishment of Löwenzahn Hochtaunus GmbH, all charitable initiatives were transferred to Löwenzahn gGmbH. In September 2021, Martin Umbach, who supports us on a voluntary basis, visited Putevi Mira and reviewed the use of our donations.
Our plan is to gradually expand our international activities in order to incorporate our Charter ("Charter for the Care of Seriously Ill and Dying People in Germanyand know-how into locally adapted hospice-palliative care initiatives. Purely financial support is only one type of assistance. We are also prepared to send our own staff on-site on occasion to conduct nursing staff training and to provide digital back-up.
These ideas were discussed during a visit by Dr Robert Gaertner and Martin Umbach in June 2022.
