Dr Robert Gaertner M.P.H. was the long-standing managing director and partner of EPOS Health Management, which he built up to become the European market leader in international development consulting before founding the Palliativteam Hochtaunus with Dr Elisabeth Lohmann in 2013 and finally leaving EPOS Health Management at the beginning of 2014. His expertise and network, consisting of many experienced experts in international cooperation around the world, now serve the gradual development of the international activities of Löwenzahn Hochtaunus gGmbH.

GRADUAL EXPANSION OF INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES
With the establishment of Löwenzahn Hochtaunus GmbH, all charitable initiatives were transferred to Löwenzahn gGmbH. In September 2021, Martin Umbach, who supports us on a voluntary basis, visited Putevi Mira and reviewed the use of our donations.
Our plan is to gradually expand our international activities in order to incorporate our Charter ("Charter for the Care of Seriously Ill and Dying People in Germanyand know-how into locally adapted hospice-palliative care initiatives. Purely financial support is only one type of assistance. We are also prepared to send our own staff on-site on occasion to conduct nursing staff training and to provide digital back-up.
These ideas were discussed during a visit by Dr Robert Gaertner and Martin Umbach in June 2022.
SUPPORT TO THE PUTEVI MIRA CITIZENS' ASSOCIATION
Our international activities were initiated in 2016 by Dr. Elisabeth Lohmann (co-founder of the Hochtaunus Palliative Care Team) and Martin Lemperle (palliative care specialist). They visited thePutevi Mira(Paths of Peace) civic association in the town of Kozarska Dubica in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In addition to professional exchanges and many friendly encounters, monthly financial support was agreed upon as a measurable outcome. Since then, we have been contributing to the financing of the "Dignified Life in Old Age" and "Meeting Place for Older People" projects.
In the "Dignified life in old age" project, nurses make home visits to elderly people who are living alone. They check blood pressure and blood sugar, monitor current medications, help with personal hygiene and go shopping. In the "Meeting place for the elderly" project, a meeting locale in the city center provides a gathering place for the elderly to meet over a coffee, read the daily newspaper or play board games.
The municipality also supports the project and provides the locale cost-free.
